PURPOSE:
Seeking a independent Data Analyst to work on data quality issues in our Ann Arbor Headquarters. We are seeking an experienced Data Quality Analyst with demonstrated experience working closely with product development, sales, customer service, procurement and other departments to ensure the integrity of production data and experience with IBM Information Server software. This person will take the lead in assuring data quality, accuracy and applying quality standards to develop best practices for data management. This position will involve analyzing data quality issues, developing exception monitoring and reporting processes, making recommendations for process improvement, and filing necessary bugs and building test case scenarios (with measurable benchmarks) against project changes. In this role, you’ll have a chance to work with large amounts of data, diagnose potential issues, and bring resolution to these issues.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. BS Computer Science or equivalent.
2. 5+ years overall IT experience required.
3. 3+ years technical experience with data warehousing technologies.
4. 2+ years direct involvement with business analysis, data analysis or data quality process.
5. Experience with (Ascential) IBM Information Server: DataStage, QualityStage, FastTrack, Information Analyzer and Business Glossary.
6. Experience operating in a production database environment, responding to the schedule demands of daily operations and customer support.
7. Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of data.
8. Significant experience with data quality, data profiling, metadata management and reporting.
9. Foundation in relational database data modeling and systems analysis skills.
10. Proficiency in Oracle (9i or higher), creating SQL/PLSQL queries, and performing data validation and verification.
11. Experience with business process and workflow design a plus.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of database management systems including experience with design, analysis, debugging, performance characteristics and recovery activities.
2. Working knowledge of functional and technical design, programming, query tools and testing components of application development.
3. Knowledge of applications methodology, technical design functions and assigned database system capabilities and administration activities.
4. Familiarity with testing concepts including test plan implementation, test coverage, etc.
5. Knowledge of data quality methodologies and tools.
6. Understand the range of options and best practices for common ETL design techniques such as change data capture, key generation and optimization.
7. Knowledge of logical data modeling tools.
8. Understanding of data profiling, business/data analysis, and data quality issues.
9. Basic understanding of security technologies (Digital Certificates, LDAP, etc.)
10. Familiar with project management principles (ability to provide time/cost estimates).
SKILLS:
1. Strong skills in data management, analysis, and reporting.

3. Strong computer skills including proficiency with the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with business users and IT development teams to determine data sources, data targets, data definitions, and data relationships.
2. Perform data profiling on customer and contact data to identify duplicates and other anomalies.
3. Create SQL/PLSQL queries to perform data validation, merging and verification.
4. Proficiency in creation of scripts, triggers, stored procedures, and packages.
5. Assist in the development, execution and documentation of data quality test plans.
6. Assist with user training and provide manuals for using the ETL tools.
7. Document data quality strategies, procedures, rules and workflows.
8. Develop reports that measure progress, maintain a complete history and provide an audit trail for the data cleansing activities.
9. Create analysis reports that prepare business users for the impacts associated with merging, parsing, and cleaning master data.
10. Develop and implement data archiving procedures and processes.
