JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:                             Programmer

Location:                      California, Maryland

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provide web and related programming support as part of the full-lifecycle IT services required for envisioning, transitioning, enhancing and maintaining a mission critical website associated with the US Navy.  This includes activities for both operations and maintenance (O&M) for the existing website and enhancement/development for the next-generation website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strong problem solving skills; includes having good situational awareness with stakeholders
• Participate in the full software development life cycle
• Apply a structured design methodology (data modeling, data flow and process flow diagrams)
• Apply programming skills in ColdFusion MX, Fusebox, Coldspring, HTML, and XML
• Troubleshoot and develop hand-coded HTML and CSS
• Resolve/repair problems to current web site; includes ability to address issues not previously encountered
• Implement enhancements to current web site
• Support design, coding, test and implementation of next generation web site
• Programming workmanship must result in developed code that is well structured, well documented, maintainable, and error-free

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Experience with the full software development life cycle
• Understanding and use of a structured design methodology (data modeling, data flow and process flow diagrams)
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Must have knowledge of SDLC process and ability to produce quality SDLC products.
• At least 5 years of  ColdFusion 7/8 development experience (preferably on Solaris).
• Proven knowledge of advanced ColdFusion concepts (OO, Ajax, XML)
• Proven experience developing CFCs, UDFs, and Custom Tags
• Proficient in JavaScript
• Solid understanding of Fusebox and/or Coldspring
• Demonstratable experience in script writing/stored procedures that interface with Oracle
• Version Control (preferably Subversion)
