Network Engineer – IPv6 JULY 2010
Company: YOH Location: St Louis Status: Contract Salary: Market Close Date: 6 12 months Job Description: Network Engineer – IPv6 JOB SUMMARY · Responsible for conducting IPv6 equipment testing / interoperability testing at vendor or lab site to include multiple configurations of network equipment. Coordinates with network equipment vendors to ensure current hardware and software features. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION · Contribute to the Company vision of being the industry leader in customer service through quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork. Develops test and interoperability plans for network equipment and verifies / interprets / documents interoperability data; creates Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) criteria. · Responsible to supports Charter Engineers in all aspects of the lab for Test bench setup and tear down, to include wiring, rack stacking of hardware, configuration of CMTS and cable modems. This position will also be responsible for complete documentation of test plan with results, design documentation, perform test plans, and modification to those test plans based on new findings in order to ensure minimal disruption to production systems. · Responsible for the development of documentation related to protocol and architectural designs, changes, migration plans, and other technical documentation for supporting staff. · Assist Prinicpal Engineer’s in assessing the readiness of network for IPv6; recommends modifications necessary to deploy data, telephony, and video service. · Performs other duties as requested by supervisor PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Ability to analyze test results and compare those test results with specifications or standards to determine the appropriateness of the recommended feedback to the vendor for modifications of their solution. · Ability to create a test plan in MS Word. · Ability to prioritize and organize effectively · Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals. · Ability to translate configuration specifications into working device configurations · Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) · Knowledge in IPv6 network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology · Knowledge in network designing software · Knowledge in DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1,2.0, 3.0; Packet Cable; and DOCSIS Set-Top Gateway. · Knowledge of support systems for network management and element management systems · Demonstrated knowledge of IPv6 design and architecture. · Demonstrated knowledge of IPv6 equipment testing. · Demonstrated knowledge of IPv6 implementation. · Demonstrated knowledge of IPv6 routing protocols · Demonstrated knowledge of IPv6 unicast and multicast services. · Demonstrated knowledge of deploying IPv6 in an MPLS network · Demonstrated knowledge of securing IPv6 networks · Demonstrated knowledge of implementing and managing provisioning suite (e.g., dhcp, tftp, dns, time of day) · Knowledge in using tools (e.g., network sniffers) · Knowledge in remote access solutions Education · Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology or related field Contact Information: Job Code: Network Engineer – IPv6 E-mail: jim.jennings@yoh.com Website: http://www.yoh.com Your Company Name |
