Linux Systems Administrator Job Description The Linux Systems Administrator will provide support to customers in a complex hosting and network solutions environment. The Linux Systems Administrator will execute change requests and troubleshoot systems incidents to provide the maximum customer uptime and optimal Mean Time To Repair. Essential Duties: Identify, resolve, and/or escalate hosting issues according to procedural documentation and training Create or update documentation including network diagrams, procedures, and policies to ensure consistent support of customer hosting environments Provide guidance, mentoring and training lower support tiers May be assigned to specific customers On call duties may be required Some travel may be required (Under 10%) Other duties as assigned Critical Skills: Expert at Configuring, Maintaining and Troubleshooting: Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 and 5 DNS SMTP SSL Experience Scripting to automate tasks using one or more of the following: Bash, SH, Perl Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills Ability to work well in team environment Ability to multitask and juggle multiple critical issues Ability to quickly adapt to change A commitment to delivering a superior customer experience through direct interaction with customers during support and change management Desired Skills: Configuring, Maintaining and Troubleshooting Solaris 9 and 10 MySQL Oracle Loadbalancers (F5, Cisco ACE) Apache Web Server Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) Experience diagnosing complex issues using packet capture analysis (Wireshark) Hands on experience troubleshooting firewalls: Cisco ACE/FWSM, ASA, IP tables, ACL etc Technical certifications in areas of expertise (Redhat, MS, ITIL) Project Management experience Education or Equivalent Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in related fields Certificates of training in associated fields/equipments
